My personal suggestion is to configure wifi and ssh into the console over wlan. For console over usb, I'd use a serial UART tty connection.

if you're pairing to your iPhone, that is not utilizing the wireless but Bluetooth. Is there a way to utilize the wireless. G and N bands are much faster.
